    Day 1 Los Angeles – Bangkok top
    Board your transpacific flight for Bangkok.

    Arrive into Bangkok in the late morning. Airport meet and greet by your local representative. Transfer to the hotel to check in. The balance of the day has been left free for you to relax and get acclimated to the time change. Enjoy a traditional Thai classical dinner and show this evening.

    Day 4 Bangkok (B / L / D) top
    Embark on a morning tour of the klongs or waterways of the Chao Phraya river in a long-tail boat. The boat speeds you through the narrow canals, passing by stilt houses that line the banks. Your first excursion is at the Museum of Royal Barges. The royal barges stored here are reserved for auspicious ceremonies and state occasions, each carved from large pieces of teak, gilded in gold and intricately decorated with shimmering pieces of glass. Continue to visit Wat Arun, commonly called the Temple of Dawn. Wat Arun is considered one of the most outstanding temples in Thailand, with a beautifully decorated spire towering at over 70 meters high. Return to the pier to disembark. Continue your Bangkok city tour by coach, visiting Wat Suthat, one of the oldest and largest temples in the city, renowned for its majestic roofline and large golden Buddha. Tour the Reclining Buddha at Wat Po. The afternoon is spent at the Grand Palace, the seat of the king and his court, as well the government administration.

    Day 5 Bangkok – Ayuthaya – Phitsanulok (B / L / D) top
    Depart for Ayuthaya, the ancient capital of Thailand for 417 years. The remaining ruins of the temple complex displays an interesting mix of Khmer and Sukhothai architectural styles. First visit Wat Yai chai Mongkhon, a monastery built in 1900 by King Uthong. His purpose was to create a center of Buddhist studies. Wat Chaiwattanaram, located on the bank of the Maenam Chao Phraya, was built by King Prasat Thong to honor his mother. The construction of the temple replicates that of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia. After lunch, continue to Phitsanulok, considered the birthplace of King Naresuan the Great. En route, visit Wat Phra Si Mahathat Temple, considered the most important temple in Phitsanulok for housing the statue of Phra Phuttachinnarat, considered to be the most beautiful image of Buddha in Thailand. The flame-like halo radiates a spiritual glow in the temple.

    Day 6 Phitsanulok – Sukhothai – Lampang (B / L / D) top
    Travel to the province of Sukhothai, considered the first kingdom of the Thais. Visit the Historical Park of Sukhothai where Thailand's cultural heritage has been preserved in the ruins of the royal palaces, Buddhist temples, city gates, walls, canals, and water dyke control system. Located within the city wall is the Royal Palace and the sanctuary called Wat Mahathat, Sukhothai's largest temple with a customary main chedi in lotus-bud shape and a ruined viharn. Your journey continues north to Lampang, a city boasting a long history of the ancient civilizations of Hariphunchai, Lanna, and Burma. Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, built in the architectural style of Lanna, has a stunning golden Chedi that commands your attention. The centuries-old Wat Phra Kaeo Don Tao used to be where the Emerald Buddha was once enshrined. Explore the onsite museum which exhibits ancient relics of the Lanna era.

    Day 7 Lampang – Phayao – Chiang Rai – Golden Triangle (B / L / D) top
    Today's drive takes you to the peaceful province of Phayao, surrounded by verdant mountains and valleys. The city's religious sites date back more than 900 years. Take a brief stroll at Kwan Phayao, the largest fresh-water fish habitat in the North, enjoying the surrounding scenery. Continue to Chiang Rai, the northernmost province of Thailand. Arrive at the ancient town of Chiang Saen where you can see the Golden Triangle, where Laos, Myanmar and Thailand meet on the Mekong River. The last site for today is at Mae Sai, visiting the local market.

    Day 8 Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai (B / L / D) top
    Chiang Mai's fascinating cultural heritage makes it an attractive destination to visit. The modernization of the city blends naturally to the historical sites of the 700-year old city. Wat Phra Thai Doi Suthep, considered the symbol of the city, is a mountaintop temple built in 1383 that houses the holy Buddha relics. The gold-plated Chedi sits prominently in the center of the marble-tiled courtyard. The high elevation of the temple's site affords a fantastic panoramic view of the city below. Enjoy a silk and cotton weaving demonstration at the San Kamphaeng village before arriving at your hotel. Tonight's dinner features the traditional Khantoke Dinner, which has a sampling of most of the northern dishes.

    Day 9 Chiangmai – Bangkok (B / L) top
    Travel to Mae Sa Valley to visit a local elephant camp before arriving at the Sai Nam Phung Farm, the largest orchid farm in Chiang Mai. After lunch, transfer to the airport for your return flight to Bangkok. Upon your arrival, transfer to the hotel to check in. This evening, visit one of the many splendid night markets where you have the opportunity to sample some local snacks should you choose.

    Enjoy a morning buffet breakfast before transferring to the airport for your departure flight. or continue your tour with one of our popular optional extensions.
