| | Day 5 Siem Reap – Luang Prabang (B / L / D) | top | The morning is spent at the "great city of Angkor," which was probably more opulent than most European cities in the late 12th century. Get lost among the glorious temple at the Royal City of Preah Khan, with its fabulous stone carved lanterns and impressive sculptures. Neak Pean highlights a shrine built on a small circular island called Ta Som. Transfer to the airport after lunch for a short flight to Luang Prabang. Enjoy a short rest break at your hotel before a city tour, visiting the stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham. Explore the sacred, gilded stupa located at the top of Mount Phousi. Stroll along the stalls of the night market that offer a selection of handmade textiles made by the local hill tribes. Tonight's dinner features the savory and spicy local dishes of Lao cuisine.
| | Day 6 Luang Prabang (B / L / D) | top | Awaken your spiritual senses this morning as you participate in the daily morning rituals of the saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of alms (freshly steamed sticky rice). This can only be experienced in Laos as it is the only Buddhist nation still preserving this procession. Return to the hotel to enjoy breakfast before embarking on a guided tour of the city, visiting some of its oldest temples. Board a cruise upstream along the Mekong River, visiting the mysterious Pak Ou Cave. Visit the local village of Ban Xanghai along the way, renowned for its production of rice wine. Once on land, continue to Ban Phanom village, famous for its hand weaving skills.

Your first stop along the river is at Thien Mu Pagoda, founded in 1601 by Lord Nguyen Hoang. Continue on to visit the Royal Tomb of Minh Mang, set amidst frangipani and pine groves, creating a peaceful and ethereal setting. Return to the city center in the afternoon to visit the Citadel, the city’s Imperial Palace. After dinner, enjoy a traditional music show on the Perfume River.
| | Day 12 Hue - Danang - Hoi An (B / L / D) | top | Depart for Danang in the morning. Danang is considered the fourth largest city, located at the northern limits of Vietnam's tropical zone. Tour the famed China Beach and Marble Mountains before arriving in Hoi An. Once a trading post of the seafaring Chinese, Japanese and Portuguese merchants, remnants of their influence can still be seen in the architectural styles of the old houses that line this small town. A walking tour of this ancient town reveals its charm.
